Some notable alumni of the academy are Adil Khan, Denzil Franco, Mickey Fernandes and Pratesh Shirodkar, who are now renowned names in the football fraternity. Over this period, SFA’s senior team has risen through the ranks in Goa’s local leagues, and now plies its trade in the Goa Pro League, the top division of Goan football.
In order to strengthen Indian Football, Vedanta launched one of its kind platform for aspiring Women footballers from Goa-‘Vedanta Women’s Football League’ in 2017, in collaboration with Goa Football Association (GFA). The league has successfully completed 4 editions and garnered overwhelming response from all corners of the state.
The prodigal find of the Vedanta Women’s League, Ms. Karishma Shirvoikar, went on to wear the national colours for the India Under-17 team and has gone into the history books as the fastest goal scorer in the National Women’s Championship. Besides Karishma, few more talented women footballers emerged from the league and were selected for national camps and training programs.
With the vision of providing the country’s young footballers a platform to compete against each other and showcase their skills at a national level, the Vedanta Youth Cup was launched in 2019.
